Horse Training
In our training program,
our emphasis is about
producing horses that are very well-rounded, that
can excel in any discipline, and will enter new
situations willingly. All horses, regardless of
training level, go through a refresher ground
manners
session and a ground working session to ensure the
horse has satisfactory basic skills. We believe horses
should have excellent ground manners, which show
respect for the handler, in all situations. We start
all horses in a western saddle, but we do work
with most breeds and disciplines.
Our facility
allows us to introduce the horses to a wide variety
of situations. In the arena we perform basic
starting under saddle and desensitization to common
objects, such as flapping raincoats and plastic bags.
Introduction to things such as poles, tarp
crossing, bridge crossing, gate opening and closing,
mailboxes, and much more typically also occur in the
arena.
We also have over 43 acres with two creeks, timber,
scrub brush, and hay fields that contain an
abundance of deer, wild turkeys, pheasant, quail,
and other wildlife. We utilize all of this area for
more intensive
training along with the over 15 miles of horse
trails at Moraine View State Park located, only
one-half mile from our property.
